FoliMAX Vigor-K is a chloride free, high potassium citrate/carbonate complex formulation, designed for maximum nutrient uptake into the plant. FoliMAX Vigor-K contains a high potassium analysis (30%) for correction of K deficiencies in turf and landscape plants. Vigor-K is a useful product for use in autumn for conditioning the plant prior to the onset of winter. FoliMAX Vigor-K is tank mix flexible with most soluble and liquid fertilisers and is ideal for use in combination with FoliMAX N-hancer-N to obtain a desired nitrogen and potassium output. FoliMAX Vigor-K offers you a reliable and robust high potassium fertiliser that will become an integral part of your turf liquid nutrition program.
The FoliMAX Vigor-K guaranteed minimum analysis
- Total potassium (K) as citrate/carbonate complex: 30.0%
The FoliMAX Vigor-K product characteristics
- pH: 8.5–9.0 Specific Gravity: 1.1
- Appearance: Clear to opaque, slight odour.
Key benefits of FoliMAX Vigor-K
- Turf specific fertiliser, researched and developed for turf and landscape purposes.
- Dual forms of potassium, maximises nutrient availability via both the foliage and soil.
- Carbonate form of potassium for improved disease resistance and uptake via the root system.
- Organic citrate form of potassium for rapid foliar uptake and assimilation.
- Non-chloride, non-sulphate potassium formulation.
- Very low risk of phytotoxicity due to its low salt index, even on immature turf.
- Excellent tank mix versatility. Highly compatible with many other fertilisers and chemicals.
- Excellent flexibility in application rates, allowing you to better optimise your nutrition program.
- Non-corrosive formulation. Will not damage spray equipment.
The potassium citrate/carbonate complex explained
The potassium in FoliMAX Vigor-K is present as a citrate/carbonate complex. Having dual forms of potassium optimises availability of the nutrient, both via the leaf and the soil. The potassium citrate component provides a citrate molecule which is found in all plants, and this form of potassium is immediately recognised and assimilated by the plant maximising leaf uptake. The potassium carbonate form is ideal for plant uptake in the soil environment and also has the additional benefits of enhancing disease resistance properties within the turfgrass plant.
FoliMAX Vigor-K : Low salt index of potassium sources
Higher salt index fertilisers have a greater potential to cause foliar burn. The lower the salt index, the lower the potential for phytotoxicity. Both potassium carbonate and potassium citrate have very low salt index and as a result, FoliMAX NRG-NK has a very low potential for foliar burn after application.

The importance of potassium in turf management
Turf grasses require potassium in relatively large amounts, second only to nitrogen. Potassium is referred to as the turf ‘toughener’ and its main purpose is to improve stress tolerance within the plant. It is an ideal element to be used in conjunction with nitrogen, as while N produces cell growth, potassium strengthens the walls of the cell, hardening it to stresses such as disease and pest infestation. Potassium is also important for many plant processes and it performs the following functions within the plant:
- Regulation of the opening and closing of the stomata, which effectively improves heat and drought tolerance.
- Production of proteins and carbohydrates. Potassium also assists in moving these compounds throughout the plant. This becomes very important for winter survival and recovery.
- Controls uptake of certain nutrients.
- Increases root development, enhancing greater branching of the root system. This contributes to improved drought and wear tolerance.
